The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5998525 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metal and hard materials. It measures 11/16 inches (0.6875 inches) in diameter with a 118-degree standard point angle and a bright, uncoated high speed steel construction. The overall length is 7.625 inches with a 5.625-inch spiral flute length, giving it the extended reach typical of jobber-series bits. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks. This bit is suited for machinists, maintenance technicians, fabricators, and industrial trades who need reliable material removal across a wide range of workpiece types.
This drill bit handles steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metal, superalloys, titanium, and other hard materials, covering ISO material codes P, M, K, N, and S. It is appropriate for production drilling, maintenance and repair operations, and field fabrication work. The regular spiral flute and web-thinned point reduce entry resistance and chip packing on deeper holes. The 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports drilling depths up to 5.625 inches, making it practical for through-hole and moderate deep-hole applications in both shop and field settings.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks accepting a 0.6875-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for use with drill presses, magnetic drills, and hand-held power drills in industrial and maintenance applications across steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium workpieces.
Install and remove drill bits only with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and tighten all jaws evenly before use. Apply cutting fluid or coolant appropriate to the workpiece material to extend tool life, particularly when drilling stainless steel, titanium, or superalloys. Inspect the cutting edges and point for wear or chipping before each use and replace the bit if the geometry is degraded.
