The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5998414 is a jobber-length twist drill bit sized to No. 42 wire gauge, equivalent to 3/32 inch (0.0935 inch decimal). It is ground from high speed steel and coated with a steam oxide finish that provides mild corrosion resistance and reduces friction during entry. The 118-degree standard point angle suits general-purpose drilling across a wide range of workpiece materials. At 2.25 inches overall length with a 1.25-inch spiral flute, this bit fits standard three-jaw chucks and is well suited to bench drill presses, hand drills, and CNC turrets used in light production work. It is installed and used by machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators.
This drill bit is designed for general-purpose drilling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and other hard materials. The Series R18 designation places it in PRECISION TWIST DRILL's standard jobber-length line, appropriate for production-volume drilling in job shops, MRO maintenance environments, and field fabrication. The straight-cylindrical shank accepts any standard chuck sized for 3/32 inch shanks. The regular spiral and tapered web with web-thinning help clear chips efficiently in short to medium depth holes up to 1.25 inches deep.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with any standard drill press, hand drill, or CNC turret chuck accepting a 3/32 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Part of the PRECISION TWIST DRILL Series R10-R15-R18 line.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians in shop or field environments. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before beginning a cut. Always power down and lock out the drill press or machine spindle before changing bits. Use appropriate cutting fluid for steel and stainless steel applications to prolong edge life and control heat buildup.
