The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5998345 is a jobber-length drill bit sized to wire gauge 26 (0.1470 inches decimal equivalent) and manufactured from high speed steel with a steam oxide coating. It carries a 118-degree standard point angle and a regular spiral flute with web-thinning for improved chip evacuation and reduced thrust on entry. At 3 inches overall length with a 1.875-inch flute length, this bit suits general-purpose production and maintenance drilling tasks. A licensed machinist, tool-and-die tech, or mechanical contractor installs it in any standard drill press, CNC drilling center, or portable drill motor accepting straight-cylindrical shanks.
This drill bit is designed for drilling into steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and other hard materials. It fits general-purpose production environments where consistent, repeatable hole quality in a range of metallic workpieces is required. The steam oxide coating provides moderate lubricity and surface protection during dry or lightly lubricated drilling operations. Series R18 designation places this bit within the PRECISION TWIST DRILL R10-R15-R18 family of jobber-length HSS drills built to ANSI standards.
Designed as a general-purpose OEM-style jobber-length drill bit compatible with any drill press, hand drill, or CNC spindle accepting a 0.1470-inch straight-cylindrical shank; part of the PRECISION TWIST DRILL R10-R15-R18 series.
Secure the shank fully in a keyed or keyless chuck before operation and verify the drill is powered down before bit changes. A machinist or mechanical technician should confirm the workpiece is clamped and that drilling speed is set appropriately for the workpiece material and bit diameter. Do not exceed the maximum drilling depth of 1.875 inches without retracting to clear chips. Cutting fluid is not required but may extend tool life when drilling stainless steel, superalloys, or titanium.
