The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5998132 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for demanding metal drilling applications. Built from cobalt high-speed steel with an oxide and straw finish, it resists heat and wear during extended use in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The bit measures 0.0625 inches (1/16 inch) in diameter with a 1-7/8 inch overall length and a 7/8 inch flute length. The 135-degree split point reduces walking at startup and lowers thrust requirements compared to a standard 118-degree point. A straight cylindrical shank and right-hand spiral flute make this bit compatible with standard drill chucks. Web-thinned geometry improves chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces in tougher materials.
This bit is suited for general-purpose drilling in steel, stainless, cast iron, aluminum, and other materials covered under the P, M, K, N, and S workpiece material codes. It is a practical choice for HVAC techs, plumbers, electricians, and maintenance professionals who need a small-diameter bit capable of handling harder alloys without dedicated tooling. The series R10CO-R15CO-R18CO designation places it within Precision Twist Drill's heavy-duty cobalt line, built to NAS 907 and ANSI standards. It is sold individually but requires a minimum order of 12 units per purchase.
Belongs to Precision Twist Drill series R10CO-R15CO-R18CO. Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use heavy-duty cobalt drill bit for applications in steel and other primary workpiece materials coded P, M, K, N, and S per industry classification.
Install in a standard drill chuck rated for a 1/16 inch straight shank before use. Secure the workpiece with clamps or a vise before drilling to prevent movement. Use cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material to extend bit life and reduce heat buildup. Dispose of worn bits properly and inspect the cutting edge before each use to avoid breakage in small-diameter tooling.
