The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5998032 is a jobber length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metal and alloy applications. Manufactured from high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it carries a wire gauge size of 52, corresponding to a decimal diameter of 0.0635 inches. The standard 118-degree point angle suits most common drilling tasks without requiring regrinding out of the box. A right-hand spiral flute with web-thinned geometry reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. At 1.875 inches overall length with a 0.875-inch flute length, this bit fits standard drill chucks and handles the depth requirements of most light-gauge drilling operations. Machinists, maintenance techs, and fabricators use this bit for production and general-purpose work.
This drill bit is suited for use in steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium workpieces. It performs in hand drills, drill presses, and CNC machine tools where a straight-cylindrical shank is appropriate. The regular spiral and 14xD flute-to-diameter ratio make it a reliable choice for through-hole and blind-hole drilling in production environments as well as job-site or shop maintenance work. The ANSI-conforming specification ensures consistent dimensional accuracy across the R10H-R18H series.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or stock bit compatible with any drill chuck accepting a 0.0635-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Part of the PRECISION TWIST DRILL R10H-R18H series for wire gauge sizes in the 0.0500 to 0.1000-inch diameter range.
This bit is installed by machinists and metalworking technicians in standard drill chucks rated for the shank diameter. Ensure the chuck is fully tightened before beginning a cut and that the workpiece is securely fixtured to prevent movement. Do not exceed the recommended maximum drilling depth of 0.875 inches without retracting to clear chips. Operate at feed and speed settings appropriate for the workpiece material to avoid premature tool wear or breakage.
