The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5997892 is a taper length drill bit from the QC91PM series, engineered for heavy-duty metal removal across a wide range of materials. Built from high-speed steel with a bright/uncoated finish, this bit features a 135-degree split point and a parabolic flute geometry that improves chip evacuation and reduces heat buildup during drilling. The straight shank measures 3 mm in diameter, and the overall length is 3-15/16 inches with a flute length of 2-19/32 inches. Web thinning reduces the thrust force needed to start a hole, making it a practical choice for production and maintenance drilling tasks.
This drill bit is suited for use in machining, fabrication, and maintenance environments where consistent, accurate hole sizing is required. The QC91PM series is rated for drilling into a broad range of workpiece materials including alloy steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, titanium, magnesium, nickel, graphite, and hardened and tempered steels. It is appropriate for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held drill motors where a straight-shank bit is compatible.
Designed for use in any standard straight-shank drill chuck accepting a 3 mm shank. Rated for drilling alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, copper, graphite, hardened steel, magnesium, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel, stainless steel, steel, tempered steel, titanium, and titanium alloy workpieces.
Installation and use of this bit is typically performed by machinists, toolroom technicians, or maintenance mechanics. Secure the straight shank firmly in a properly sized drill chuck before operation and verify chuck runout is within acceptable tolerance to prevent premature bit wear. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material, particularly when drilling stainless steel, titanium, or hardened steels. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and retire the bit if chipping or excessive wear is observed.
