The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5997533 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in a wide range of materials. Sized at 17/64 inch (0.2656 inch decimal), it features a 118-degree standard point angle and a steam oxide coating that reduces friction and provides light corrosion resistance during storage and use. The 2-flute, spiral-flute geometry with a regular spiral type delivers efficient chip evacuation. The bit is web-thinned with a tapered web configuration to reduce thrust requirements at the point. Overall length is 4.125 inches with a 2.875-inch flute length. Licensed tradespeople and machinists in metal fabrication, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical trades rely on this bit for production and service drilling.
This bit is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and other hard materials. The straight-cylindrical shank with a diameter of 0.2656 inch fits standard three-jaw drill chucks. It is appropriate for handheld drill applications as well as drill press and machine tool setups where jobber-length reach is sufficient. Maximum drilling depth is 2.875 inches, making it a practical choice for through-hole and blind-hole work in typical trade and light industrial settings.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with any standard three-jaw drill chuck accepting a 0.2656-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Part of the Series R10A-R15A-R18A product family.
Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify the bit runs true before drilling. Always wear appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece before operation. When drilling steel or stainless steel, apply cutting fluid to extend tool life and reduce heat. Replace the bit if the cutting edges show chipping or the steam oxide coating is worn through to bare steel at the tip, indicating significant tool wear.
