The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5997439 is a taper length drill bit designed for heavy-duty general purpose drilling in a wide range of metals and alloys. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright/uncoated finish, it measures 7/64 inch (0.1094 inches) in diameter and runs 4-5/8 inches in overall length. The 135-degree split point enables self-centering entry without a center punch, reducing walking on hard or smooth surfaces. A parabolic flute geometry with a 6xD flute-to-diameter ratio promotes efficient chip evacuation, making it well suited for deeper holes and interrupted cuts. This bit is sized in the QC91P series and carries an ANSI standard designation.
This drill bit is appropriate for use in residential, commercial, and light industrial applications where a longer reach than a jobber-length bit is required. Its straight shank fits standard three-jaw drill chucks on hand drills, drill presses, and CNC drilling stations. The web-thinned, tapered web construction reduces cutting resistance, making it effective in both hand-held and machine tool setups. Machinists, millwrights, pipefitters, and fabricators typically reach for this bit when drilling through structural steel, stainless, aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, cast iron, titanium, and similar materials.
Designed as an OEM-style taper length drill bit in the QC91P series, compatible with any standard three-jaw drill chuck accepting a 0.1094-inch straight shank. Suitable for drilling alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, copper, graphite, hardened steel, magnesium, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel, stainless steel, steel, tempered steel, titanium, and titanium alloy.
Installed by machinists, fabricators, or maintenance trades using a drill press, hand drill, or CNC machine. Secure the straight shank firmly in the chuck and verify runout before drilling. Use appropriate cutting fluid for stainless steel, hardened steel, and titanium to extend bit life and prevent work hardening. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and ANSI standards when operating drilling equipment.
