The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5997155 is a No. 41 wire-gauge jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metal and non-ferrous materials. Machined from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it cuts at a 0.0960-inch diameter and features a 135-degree split-point tip for fast penetration and reduced walking on entry. The 2-flute regular spiral flute geometry evacuates chips efficiently during through-hole and blind-hole operations. With a 2.375-inch overall length and a 1.375-inch flute length, this bit is sized for use in standard drill presses, CNC drilling centers, and hand-held power drills. It is installed and used by machinists, maintenance technicians, and metal fabricators working on production or repair tasks.
This jobber drill is suited for drilling steel, aluminum, and other non-ferrous workpiece materials in light to medium production environments. The QC21P series is a general-purpose line built to ANSI standards, making it a dependable fit for machine shops, HVAC fabrication, plumbing rough-in work involving metal framing, and electrical trade applications requiring clean, accurate holes in sheet metal or structural steel. The straight cylindrical shank with a 0.2500-inch diameter fits standard three-jaw chucks and collet systems without modification.
Designed as a general-purpose OEM-style jobber drill for use in any standard drill press, hand-held power drill, or CNC spindle accepting a 0.2500-inch straight shank. Fits applications calling for a No. 41 wire-gauge drill in the 0.0500 to 0.1000 inch size range per QC21P series specifications.
Installation requires a properly sized chuck or collet rated for a 0.2500-inch straight shank. Secure the shank to the full recommended grip depth before operation, and confirm spindle speed is appropriate for the workpiece material and bit diameter per standard machining feeds-and-speeds references. Wear appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece before drilling. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use; a dull bit increases thrust and can crack the web on small-diameter HSS tooling.
