The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5997154 is a taper length high-speed steel drill bit designed for demanding hole-making applications across a wide range of materials. Ground to a 135-degree split point with a parabolic flute profile, it penetrates faster than standard jobber bits and requires no center punch to start. At 6 inches overall length with a 3-5/8-inch flute length, the extended reach suits deeper bores where a standard-length bit falls short. Right-hand cut, straight shank, and a web-thinned tapered web complete the geometry. This is a general-purpose heavy-duty bit suited for machinists, pipefitters, millwrights, and maintenance tradespeople who drill through varied stock daily.
Wire size No. 5 at 0.2055 inches diameter places this bit in the range commonly used for tap drilling, close-tolerance hole sizing, and through-hole work in structural and fabricated assemblies. The QC91P series is rated for use in alloy steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, hardened steel, tempered steel, cast iron, malleable iron, brass, bronze, copper, aluminum, aluminum alloy, magnesium, magnesium alloy, nickel, titanium, titanium alloy, and graphite. It is self-centering at the point, reducing layout time in production and field environments alike.
Rated for drilling alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, copper, graphite, hardened steel, magnesium, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel, stainless steel, steel, tempered steel, titanium, and titanium alloy. Fits any standard drill chuck accepting a 0.2055-inch straight shank.
Install in a keyed or keyless chuck and confirm the shank is fully seated before tightening. Power down or de-energize the drill press or hand drill before bit changes. Use cutting fluid appropriate to the workpiece material when drilling stainless, titanium, or hardened alloys to extend tool life and reduce heat buildup. Do not exceed the drill press or tool manufacturer's recommended spindle speed for the bit diameter and material being cut.
