The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5997033 is a high speed steel (HSS) jobber-length drill bit sized to wire gauge No. 36, with a decimal diameter of 0.1065 inches. It features a 135-degree split point with web thinning for reduced thrust and more accurate starting without a center punch. The bright, uncoated finish suits general-purpose drilling in steel, aluminum, and other non-ferrous metals. Overall length is 2.5 inches with a 1.4375-inch flute length and a straight cylindrical shank. This drill is part of the Series QC21P and is used by machinists, maintenance technicians, electricians, and plumbers for small-diameter precision hole work.
The 5997033 is suited for light-duty production and general-purpose drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Its 0.1065-inch diameter fits applications requiring tight tolerances in wire-gauge drilling, such as tapping pilot holes, electrical panel work, sheet metal operations, and fixture fabrication. The two-flute regular spiral design provides efficient chip evacuation in both metal and non-metallic workpieces. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional drill press, hand drill, and CNC spindle use. The straight shank fits standard three-jaw chucks without adapters.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber drill bit for use in standard three-jaw drill chucks on drill presses, hand drills, and CNC spindles. Meets ANSI specification standards for wire-gauge drill bits. Compatible with ferrous metals, aluminum, and non-ferrous workpiece materials per Series QC21P design intent.
This drill bit is installed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals using standard drill chucks. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and confirm the chuck key is removed prior to powering the spindle. Use an appropriate cutting fluid when drilling steel to extend tool life and reduce heat buildup. Inspect the cutting edge for wear or chipping before each use and replace if the point shows damage.
