The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5997029 is a jobber-length drill bit in wire gauge size 35, with a decimal diameter of 0.1100 inches. Made from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, it features a 135-degree split-point tip and a parabolic spiral flute with web thinning for improved chip evacuation and reduced thrust in harder materials. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without modification. This is a general-purpose heavy-duty bit suited for production and maintenance drilling by machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and industrial maintenance technicians.
The 5997029 is designed for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. Its Series QC21P parabolic flute geometry and web-thinned tip make it effective in both hand-held and machine setups where small-diameter precision holes are required. The 14xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports deeper drilling relative to the bit diameter within its 1.5-inch maximum drilling depth. Typical applications include precision hole-making in sheet metal fabrication, maintenance repair, and light production environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use jobber-length drill bit compatible with standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 0.1100-inch straight cylindrical shank. Conforms to ANSI standards per specification designation on the Series QC21P line.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using a standard drill press, CNC machine, or hand drill with a chuck sized for 0.1100-inch shanks. Ensure the chuck or collet is fully tightened before operation and the workpiece is securely fixtured. Verify spindle speed is appropriate for the workpiece material and bit diameter per standard machining feeds-and-speeds references. Coolant-through capability is not supported on this bit; apply cutting fluid externally when drilling stainless steel, superalloys, or titanium to reduce heat.
