The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5996069 is a screw machine length cobalt drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in hard and tough materials. Built to Series M41CO standards, it features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking and requires no center punch on most surfaces. The cobalt construction provides heat resistance for drilling alloys, stainless steel, hardened steel, and similar hard workpiece materials. At 0.1065 inches in diameter with a 1-13/16-inch overall length and a 13/16-inch flute length, this bit is suited for short-reach, high-cycle drilling operations. Right-hand cut with a regular spiral flute and tapered web configuration, it is installed and used by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and maintenance technicians.
This screw machine length drill bit is used in production and maintenance environments where stub-length rigidity is preferred over jobber-length bits. The shorter body reduces deflection in drill presses, CNC machines, and hand-held power tools operating on hard materials. A straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without adapters. The 2.5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in moderate-depth holes. Coolant-through is not supported. Applications include metal fabrication shops, aerospace maintenance, and general industrial settings requiring repeatable hole quality in hard stock.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use screw machine length drill bit for applications requiring a 0.1065-inch (Wire Size 36) hole in hard or heavy-duty workpiece materials. Compatible with any standard drill chuck accepting a straight-cylindrical shank.
This bit is installed by machinists and maintenance technicians in drill presses, CNC machining centers, or hand-held power tools with compatible chuck sizes. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in the chuck before operation to prevent slippage. When drilling hard materials, use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant applied externally, as this bit does not support coolant-through. Replace the bit if cutting edges show visible wear, chipping, or if hole quality degrades, as continuing to run a worn bit can damage the workpiece and the tool.
