The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5995890 is a wire gauge size 43 jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in demanding materials. Manufactured from high speed steel with a bronze coating, it features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking and improves entry accuracy without a center punch. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.089 inches in diameter and seats securely in standard drill chucks. With an overall length of 2.25 inches and a flute length of 1.25 inches, this bit is sized for precision work in tight clearances. It is used by machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators working on production or field drilling tasks.
This drill bit is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The 135-degree point geometry and web-thinned construction make it a practical choice for production drilling where accurate hole location and consistent entry into hard ferrous and exotic alloys are required. It is commonly used in HVAC panel fabrication, electrical enclosure work, plumbing fixture drilling, and general metal fabrication where a wire-gauge drill size is specified. The regular spiral flute provides efficient chip evacuation in through-hole and blind-hole applications.
Part of the PRECISION TWIST DRILL Series HX10-HX15-HX18. Designed as a general-purpose jobber drill for use in standard drill presses, hand drills, and CNC drilling operations requiring a wire gauge size 43 bit with a straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tradespeople familiar with drilling operations and appropriate cutting speeds for the workpiece material. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling and ensure the chuck is fully tightened on the shank before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid when drilling stainless steel, cast iron, or titanium alloys to reduce heat buildup and extend bit life. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use and replace the bit if chipping or dulling is observed.
