The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5995823 is a No. 29 wire-size jobber-length drill bit ground from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bronze coating for increased surface hardness and heat resistance. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and requires less thrust force compared to a conventional 118-degree point, making it well-suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloys including titanium. Overall length is 2.875 inches with a 1.75-inch flute length and a straight cylindrical shank at 0.1360 inches in diameter. The tapered web and web-thinned geometry keep cutting action aggressive across a range of material hardnesses. Manufactured to ANSI standards, this bit belongs to the HX10-HX15-HX18 series.
This drill bit is intended for general-purpose production and maintenance drilling in ferrous metals and difficult-to-machine materials. Typical applications include drilling through mild steel plate, stainless steel sheet, cast iron castings, and titanium alloys in fabrication shops, machine shops, and field service environments. The 0.1360-inch decimal size corresponds to No. 29 wire gauge, a common size used when drilling pilot holes and clearance holes for small fasteners. The 13xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides adequate chip clearance for standard-depth holes up to 1.75 inches deep without requiring peck cycles in most setups.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber drill for use in any standard three-jaw drill chuck or collet accepting a 0.1360-inch straight cylindrical shank. Rated for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloys including titanium per material codes P, M, K, and S.
Install and remove drill bits only with the drill press, hand drill, or milling machine powered down and fully at rest. Secure the straight shank firmly in a properly sized chuck or collet before applying any feed force. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling stainless steel, superalloys, or titanium to manage heat buildup; this bit does not support through-coolant delivery. Dispose of worn bits according to local sharp-object handling guidelines.
