The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5995751 is a jobber-length drill bit sized to Letter W (0.386 inches decimal) with a 135-degree split-point tip. It is manufactured from M2 high speed steel with a purple/bronze coating and features a web-thinned, tapered web design for reduced thrust and cleaner entry. The straight-cylindrical shank and right-hand spiral fluting make it compatible with standard drill chucks. At 5.125 inches overall length with a 3.75-inch flute, this bit is suited for through-hole and deeper drilling work across a range of metal workpiece materials. Licensed tradespeople and machinists reach for this bit in everyday production and maintenance drilling operations.
This bit is designed for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. It carries ANSI specification designation and falls within the HX10-HX15-HX18 series, which covers general-purpose jobber-length tooling. Typical applications include structural fabrication shops, maintenance facilities, and field service environments where a reliable letter-size drill is required. The 135-degree point geometry reduces walking on hard materials and lowers the need for a center punch on flat stock. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit within the PRECISION TWIST DRILL HX10-HX15-HX18 series. Suitable for use in any standard drill press, hand drill, or CNC drilling setup accepting a 0.386-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Intended workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium.
Install in a properly rated drill press, magnetic drill, or hand drill with a chuck capacity that accommodates a 0.386-inch shank. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify concentricity before drilling. Wear appropriate PPE including eye protection when operating. Follow applicable ANSI B11 machine safety standards and shop safety protocols when setting feeds and speeds for the target material.
