The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5995727 is a high-speed steel extra length drill bit designed for applications that require extended reach beyond what a jobber-length bit can provide. Built to the Series QC0860P specification, it features a 135-degree split-point tip that self-centers on contact, eliminating the need for a center punch in most setups. The parabolic flute geometry promotes aggressive chip evacuation and reduces heat buildup during extended drilling cycles. At 0.5 pounds and machined from uncoated high-speed steel, this bit is suited for machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and maintenance mechanics working on deep-hole drilling tasks in metal and non-metal materials.
This bit is suited for use in production and maintenance environments where standard-length bits cannot reach the workpiece or where deep-hole geometry demands superior chip clearance. The 6-inch flute length provides extended cutting zone capability, while the straight-cylindrical shank accommodates standard drill chucks and collet holders without adapters. Right-hand cutting direction and web-thinned parallel web construction reduce entry resistance, making this bit effective across a broad range of workpiece materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, bronze, cast iron, copper, nickel alloys, magnesium alloys, and reinforced plastics.
Designed as an OEM-grade replacement or direct-use drill bit compatible with standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 0.125-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Rated for use in carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, cast iron, copper, graphite, hardened steel, high-strength bronze, magnesium, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel, nickel alloy, reinforced plastic materials, and tempered materials. Conforms to ANSI standards. Series QC0860P, 10xD flute-to-diameter ratio.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance mechanics using a standard drill press, milling machine, or hand-held power drill with an appropriate chuck capacity. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation to prevent runout. Apply appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material to extend tool life and manage heat, particularly in ferrous materials. Inspect the cutting edges and split-point before each use and replace the bit if chipping or dulling is observed.
