The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5995527 is a jobber length drill bit designed for general purpose drilling in metal fabrication, maintenance, and repair applications. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, this bit features a 118-degree standard point angle and a web-thinned, tapered web for reduced thrust during entry. The straight shank measures 9/64 inch (0.1406 inch) in diameter, and the overall length is 2.875 inches with a 1.75-inch flute length. The left-hand cutting direction makes this bit particularly useful for extracting broken fasteners or for use on left-hand drill presses and reversible machines. This is a Series L10 bit that meets ANSI standards.
This drill bit is suited for drilling steel and cast iron in production, shop, and field service environments. Typical users include machinists, millwrights, and maintenance technicians working with ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The regular spiral, two-flute configuration provides efficient chip evacuation during through-hole and blind-hole drilling operations at standard cutting speeds for HSS tooling. The left-hand cut is a key selection factor when the application calls for counter-rotation relative to a standard right-hand setup.
Designed as a general purpose jobber length drill bit for use in standard drill chucks accepting straight shank tooling. Primary workpiece materials include steel and cast iron. Compatible with any reversible drill press, handheld drill, or drill driver capable of left-hand rotation.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by a qualified machinist or tradesperson familiar with proper cutting speeds and feeds for HSS tooling in ferrous materials. Secure the straight shank firmly in the chuck before operation and confirm the machine is set to the correct left-hand rotation before engaging the workpiece. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; use cutting fluid externally when drilling steel at extended depths. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use.
