The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5995477 is a jobber-length twist drill bit ground to a 118-degree standard point angle and manufactured from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish. Sized at 23/64 inch (0.3594 inch) in diameter, the bit features a left-hand cutting direction and a regular spiral flute geometry, making it suited for back-out drilling applications where right-hand rotation is not desirable. The straight shank mounts directly into standard drill chucks without adapters. This is a Series L10 general-purpose bit built to ANSI standards and intended for installation and service work performed by licensed tradespeople across mechanical and industrial applications.
This drill bit is designed for drilling into steel and cast iron as its primary workpiece materials, covering material codes P, M, K, N, and S. It is appropriate for general-purpose production drilling, maintenance and repair work, and field service tasks where a left-hand cut is required. The 10xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web configuration with web thinning support efficient chip evacuation in ferrous metals. It is sold individually and fits standard jobber-length drill applications in shop, mechanical room, and field environments.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with standard keyed and keyless drill chucks accepting a 23/64 inch (0.3594 inch) straight shank. Primary workpiece materials are steel and cast iron.
Installation and use should follow standard machine shop or field drilling practices performed by qualified tradespeople. Secure the workpiece fully before drilling and confirm the drill chuck is tightened to prevent shank slippage. Because this bit has a left-hand cutting direction, it must be used in a drill set to reverse rotation. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; apply cutting fluid externally when drilling ferrous metals at higher feed rates to manage heat buildup.
