The PPS 20688 is a copper press tee fitting designed for professional plumbing and mechanical systems. It connects two run ends at 2-1/2 inches nominal and one branch end at 2 inches nominal using a press end style that eliminates open-flame soldering on the job. The fitting operates at pressures from 100 to 160 psi and a temperature range of -18 to 83 degrees C, making it suitable for both hot and cold fluid service. Licensed plumbers and mechanical contractors install this fitting using a compatible press tool and jaw set. Copper construction ensures corrosion resistance and long service life in wet systems.
This tee fitting is rated for use in potable water systems, hot and cold water distribution, hydronic heating systems, gas systems, fire protection systems, and solar thermal systems. The press connection method makes it well suited for retrofit and new construction applications where torch-free joining is preferred or required, including occupied buildings, tight mechanical rooms, and areas with fire-restriction protocols. The 2-1/2 x 2-1/2 x 2 inch nominal configuration handles a reducing branch off a full-size main run.
Rated for potable water systems, hot and cold water systems, heating systems, gas systems, fire protection systems, and solar systems. Designed as an OEM-style press fitting compatible with standard ProPress XL-C copper press tooling and jaw systems sized for 2-1/2 inch and 2 inch connections.
Installation must be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified mechanical contractor using a calibrated press tool with the correct jaw profile for the pipe diameter. Shut off and depressurize the system and drain the line before pressing connections. Verify that the pipe end is clean, deburred, and fully inserted to the tube stop before pressing. Local plumbing codes including IPC requirements should be consulted for approved applications, especially in gas and fire protection service.
