The POTTER ELECTRIC SIGNAL CO. US VSG-3 is a waterflow switch designed to detect water movement in fire sprinkler and wet-pipe suppression systems. When flow occurs, the device signals the fire alarm control panel, triggering an alert. It mounts on sprinkler piping and is typically installed by licensed fire protection contractors or sprinkler system technicians. The VSG-3 is sold as a single unit and is a core component in flow-detection assemblies where reliable alarm initiation is required.
The VSG-3 is used in commercial and residential fire protection systems that rely on wet-pipe sprinkler distribution. It is suited for applications where monitoring water movement in the main or branch piping is necessary for code-compliant alarm signaling. The switch integrates into the sprinkler riser or main distribution pipe to provide immediate notification upon flow detection.
Designed as an OEM-style waterflow switch for use in wet-pipe fire sprinkler systems requiring flow-detection and alarm-initiation capability.
Installation should be performed by a licensed fire protection contractor in accordance with NFPA 13 and local authority having jurisdiction requirements. Shut off water supply and depressurize the piping before mounting the switch. Verify electrical connections to the fire alarm control panel comply with NFPA 72 low-voltage wiring requirements. Do not install on dry-pipe or pre-action systems unless the device is explicitly rated for those applications.
