The POTTER ELECTRIC SIGNAL CO. US PS40-1 is a pressure supervisory switch designed to monitor system pressure in wet-pipe fire sprinkler and waterflow detection applications. The switch provides a supervisory signal when system pressure falls outside the acceptable operating range, alerting monitoring panels to low- or high-pressure conditions before a fault escalates. It is installed by licensed fire protection contractors and sprinkler system technicians as part of a supervised fire suppression system.
The PS40-1 is suited for residential and commercial wet-pipe sprinkler systems where continuous pressure supervision is required by code. It is typically installed on the main supply riser or branch piping to monitor static pressure. Fire alarm and sprinkler system installers use this switch to satisfy supervisory signal requirements under NFPA 72 and NFPA 13 installation standards.
Designed as an OEM-style supervisory pressure switch for wet-pipe fire sprinkler and waterflow monitoring systems requiring a supervisory pressure input device.
Installation should be performed by a licensed fire protection contractor in accordance with NFPA 13 and NFPA 72 requirements. Shut down and relieve system pressure before installing or replacing the switch. Verify supervisory zone wiring continuity at the fire alarm control panel after installation. Do not over-tighten the fitting connection; follow the fitting manufacturer torque guidance and applicable local codes.
