The POTTER ELECTRIC SIGNAL CO. US IDC-6 is an initiating device circuit expander designed to increase the zone capacity of compatible fire alarm control panels. It integrates with fire alarm systems to add supervised initiating device circuits, allowing installers to expand detection coverage without replacing the main control panel. The IDC-6 is intended for use with the PFC-4064 fire alarm control panel and is sold as a single unit. Licensed fire alarm technicians and low-voltage electricians perform the installation as part of a structured panel expansion or system upgrade.
The IDC-6 expander is used in commercial fire alarm installations where the base panel requires additional initiating device circuit zones. Typical applications include mid-size commercial buildings, institutional facilities, and any site running the PFC-4064 panel that needs expanded detection loop capacity. It is categorized as a fire control accessory and is deployed during new installations or retrofits where zone count must be increased to meet the demands of the protected space.
The IDC-6 is specified for use with the Potter PFC-4064 fire alarm control panel as an initiating device circuit expander module.
Installation of the IDC-6 should be performed by a licensed fire alarm technician or qualified low-voltage electrician in accordance with NFPA 72 and applicable local codes. Power down and fully discharge the fire alarm control panel before connecting or removing any expansion modules. All wiring must be supervised and properly terminated per the panel manufacturer instructions. Do not energize the system until the expander is fully seated and all connections are verified.
