The POTTER ELECTRIC SIGNAL CO. US PC-2H6B is a combination heat detector designed for fire alarm and life safety systems in commercial and residential installations. It uses dual-mode sensing to detect both fixed-temperature threshold conditions and rate-of-rise temperature changes, triggering an alarm when either condition is met. The unit ships with a 6 inch mounting base included, simplifying installation to a single-SKU order. Heat detectors of this type are specified where smoke detectors are unsuitable, such as in dusty, steamy, or high-particulate environments including kitchens, garages, and attic spaces. Licensed fire alarm technicians and electricians are the primary installers.
The PC-2H6B is suited for applications where smoke detectors generate nuisance alarms due to airborne contaminants. Typical installations include commercial kitchens, laundry rooms, utility rooms, garages, and unfinished attic or crawl space areas. The combination rate-of-rise and fixed-temperature detection method provides reliable response across a range of fire growth scenarios. It is sold as a single unit with the 6 inch base included, making it ready for direct mounting without sourcing a separate base accessory.
Designed as an OEM-style thermal detector for use in conventional or addressable fire alarm systems that support standard heat detector bases. Confirm system panel and wiring compatibility before installation.
Installation must be performed by a licensed fire alarm technician or electrician in accordance with NFPA 72 and applicable local fire codes. Disable and lock out the fire alarm control panel circuit before wiring the detector to prevent accidental alarm activation. Mount the base securely to a standard electrical box or ceiling surface before connecting field wiring. Do not install in environments that exceed the detector's rated temperature limits or expose the unit to direct water spray.
