The POTTER ELECTRIC SIGNAL CO. US CF-135CW is a fixed-temperature heat detector with a normally closed (N/C) contact configuration, designed for use in fire detection and alarm systems. It activates when ambient temperature reaches 135 degrees F, triggering the circuit response appropriate for its wiring configuration. The CF-135CW is sold as an individual unit and is classified as a fire control accessory. Licensed fire alarm technicians and low-voltage contractors are the primary installers of this device in commercial and residential applications.
The CF-135CW is suited for areas where smoke detectors are impractical due to dust, steam, or other airborne contaminants that would cause nuisance alarms. Typical installation locations include attics, boiler rooms, kitchens, garages, and other utility spaces. Its normally closed contact design integrates into conventional fire alarm panel circuits where an open circuit signals an alarm condition. This makes it compatible with standard two-wire detection loops used across a wide range of fire control panel configurations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation heat detector for conventional fire alarm control panels that support normally closed, fixed-temperature detection circuits.
Installation should be performed by a licensed fire alarm technician or low-voltage contractor in accordance with NFPA 72 and applicable local codes. De-energize the fire alarm control panel circuit before wiring the detector to avoid inadvertent alarm activation. Verify that the panel loop type and wiring configuration are compatible with a normally closed detector before connecting. Do not install in locations where ambient temperatures can approach or exceed the detector activation threshold under normal operating conditions.
