The Potter Electric Signal Co. US 1010210 is a corrosion-resistant supervisory switch designed for use on outside stem and yoke (OS and Y) gate valves in fire protection water supply systems. It monitors the open position of the valve and sends a supervisory signal to the fire alarm control panel if the valve is moved from its fully open position. Licensed fire alarm and sprinkler contractors install this device as part of a code-compliant valve monitoring assembly. The corrosion-resistant construction makes it suitable for installations in harsh or outdoor environments where standard components may degrade.
This supervisory switch is used in commercial and industrial fire sprinkler systems wherever OS and Y gate valves control water flow to sprinkler branches or mains. Typical applications include indoor mechanical rooms, outdoor riser assemblies, and wet-pipe or dry-pipe sprinkler configurations. The device attaches directly to the valve stem housing and requires connection to a supervised fire alarm circuit. It is sold as a single unit.
Designed as an OEM-style supervisory switch for outside stem and yoke gate valves used in commercial and industrial fire protection waterflow systems.
Installation must be performed by a licensed fire alarm or fire sprinkler contractor in accordance with NFPA 72, NFPA 13, and applicable local codes. Shut off electrical power to the supervisory circuit before wiring the switch, and ensure the valve is fully open and the water supply is isolated before mechanically mounting the device. Verify supervisory signal functionality at the fire alarm control panel after installation. Do not install on valve types other than OS and Y configurations.
