The PFERD 47802480 is a mounted flap wheel designed for fine surface conditioning and finishing on a wide range of materials. Built with aluminum oxide non-woven abrasive, this wheel delivers consistent, controlled stock removal at a very fine 280 grit rating. The 4-inch diameter and 2-inch face width provide broad contact coverage, making it effective on contoured surfaces, bores, and irregular geometries. The 1/4-inch shank mounts directly into straight grinders and flexible shaft drives, and the 6,000 RPM maximum speed rating keeps it suited for controlled finishing work. HVAC fabricators, metal finishers, machinists, and maintenance technicians are the primary installers of this type of abrasive tooling.
This mounted flap wheel is used across both light fabrication and precision finishing applications. The non-woven aluminum oxide construction is well suited for deburring, blending, and surface prep on aluminum, stainless steel, copper, brass, bronze, titanium, nickel base alloys, cobalt based alloys, cast steel, heat treatable steel, zinc, thermoplastics, and fibre-reinforced duroplastic substrates. It performs in both production and maintenance environments where a consistent fine finish is required without aggressive material removal.
Designed for use with straight grinders and flexible shaft drives accepting a 1/4-inch shank. Suitable for material applications including aluminum, brass, bronze, cast steel, cobalt based alloy, copper, fibre-reinforced duroplastic, heat treatable steel, nickel base alloy, non-ferrous metal, stainless steel, steel, thermoplastic, titanium, titanium alloy, and zinc.
Installation is performed by machinists, metal fabricators, or maintenance technicians using a straight grinder or flexible shaft drive with a compatible 1/4-inch collet. Before mounting, confirm the tool spindle RPM rating meets or exceeds 6,000 RPM and that the drive tool is fully powered down and isolated before inserting or removing the shank. Do not exceed the maximum rated RPM marked on the wheel. Inspect the wheel for damage before each use and replace if any deterioration is observed.
