The PFERD 21724283 is a solid carbide rotary bur with a cylinder-with-end-cut head geometry and a diamond tooth pattern. It is designed for aggressive stock removal and precision contouring in hard and exotic materials. The cutting diameter measures 0.5 inches with a 1-inch length of cut and a 1/4-inch shank diameter. Overall length is 2.75 inches. The uncoated carbide head runs at up to 24,000 RPM and is suited for use in die grinders and rotary tools. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and fabricators install these burs for deburring, porting, and profiling operations.
This bur is rated for a broad range of hard and abrasion-resistant materials including bronze, case-hardened steels, cast steel, cobalt-based alloys, hard aluminum alloys, hardened and heat-treated steels over 370 HV (38 HRC), hard non-ferrous metals, high-temperature-resistant materials, and nickel-based alloys such as Inconel and Hastelloy. It performs well in aerospace, tooling, mold-and-die, and heavy fabrication environments where softer abrasives fail to hold a cut.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitment carbide bur for die grinders and rotary tools accepting a 1/4-inch collet. Industry specification SB-5.
Installation is performed by machinists, fabricators, or tool-and-die technicians using a die grinder or rotary tool with a 1/4-inch collet. Ensure the workpiece is secured and the tool is powered down and unplugged before inserting or removing the bur from the collet. Do not exceed the rated maximum speed of 24,000 RPM. Always wear appropriate eye protection and follow shop safety standards when operating rotary carbide burs.
