The PFERD 19607202 is a Swiss-pattern half round file designed for precision hand filing on metal workpieces, including stainless steel. At 8 inches overall length with a Cut 0 (bastard-coarse) tooth pattern, it removes material efficiently while maintaining the control expected from Swiss-pattern tooling. The half round profile gives the technician two working surfaces: a flat face for flat or convex work and a curved face for concave contours, grooves, and inside radii. The tang end accepts a standard file handle. At 0.27 pounds, it is a lightweight tool suited for bench work and on-site fitting tasks performed by machinists, pipefitters, fabricators, and millwrights.
This file is appropriate for deburring, shaping, and finish-filing on stainless steel and other ferrous and non-ferrous metals in both shop and field environments. The Cut 0 rating makes it well-suited for fast stock removal on harder alloys where finer cuts would load or chatter. It is commonly used during pipe fitting, weld prep, and precision part fitting where a half round profile is required to work both flat and curved surfaces in a single pass.
Designed as an OEM-style Swiss-pattern hand file suitable for use with standard file handles accepting a tang-style file shank.
Always fit the tang into a properly sized file handle before use to prevent hand injury. Secure the workpiece in a vise or fixture before filing to maintain control and consistent stroke angle. Inspect the file teeth before each use and clean with a file card to prevent pinning, which can scratch the workpiece surface. Files are cutting tools and should not be used to pry or strike.
