The PEMKO 411ARL48 is a full mortise automatic door bottom designed to seal the gap between the bottom of a door and the threshold when the door closes. As the door swings shut, the automatic drop mechanism deploys a sponge neoprene seal against the floor surface, then retracts when the door opens. The mill finish aluminum housing measures 48 inches in length and is mortised directly into the bottom rail of the door, keeping the unit flush and out of sight. This hardware is installed by carpenters, finish contractors, and door hardware specialists on commercial and residential entry doors requiring weatherstripping, acoustical attenuation, or light smoke and draft control.
The 411ARL48 is suited for interior and exterior door applications where a clean, concealed installation is required. Full mortise construction means the unit sits within a routed channel in the door bottom, leaving no exposed housing on the face of the door. The sponge neoprene seal provides a compressible, continuous contact line across the full 48-inch width. Typical applications include office corridors, hotel room entries, residential exterior doors, and light commercial builds where code or design requirements call for draft, sound, or light control at the door bottom.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation door bottom for full mortise automatic door bottom applications on wood or hollow metal doors with a 48-inch bottom rail width.
Installation is performed by a qualified door hardware specialist or finish carpenter. A mortise channel must be routed into the door bottom rail to the correct depth and width before mounting the unit. Verify door clearance from the floor surface is within the seal compression range before finalizing the mortise depth. Follow ANSI and local building code requirements for door hardware installation, and confirm the door swing and closer speed are appropriate for the automatic drop mechanism to function correctly.
