The PARLEC C50-20SM2 is a CAT50 taper shank shell mill holder designed for secure face milling operations on CNC machining centers. It accepts shell mills in the 5-1/2 to 6 inch cutting diameter range via a 2 inch pilot diameter and is secured with a 1-14 thread lock screw (20LS). The nose diameter measures 4.88 inches with a projection from flange to nose end of 2.4 inches. A TIR of 0.0002 inches ensures the concentricity that production milling demands. This holder is balanced to 30,000 RPM, making it suitable for high-speed spindle applications where runout and balance are critical factors.
The C50-20SM2 is intended for use in CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers equipped with CAT50 spindle interfaces. It is a common choice in production shops running large-diameter face mills on steel, cast iron, and aluminum workpieces. Through coolant is not supported by this holder. Machinists and CNC setup technicians install and torque this holder to spindle and tooling manufacturer specifications.
Designed for use with shell mills having a 2 inch pilot bore and cutting diameters between 5-1/2 and 6 inches, mounted in machining centers with a CAT50 spindle taper interface.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Always power down and lock out the machining center spindle before mounting or removing toolholders. Use the correct drawbar torque and retention knob specification for your machine spindle - refer to the machine tool builder and toolholder manufacturer documentation. Inspect the taper shank and spindle bore for chips, burrs, or contamination before seating the holder.
