The PARKER 68P-5-4 is a brass compression tube connector designed to join 5/16-inch outside diameter tubing to a male NPT threaded port. It uses a compression fitting on one end and a 1/4-18 NPTF male threaded connection on the other, providing a reliable, leak-resistant joint without soldering or flaring. Rated to 150 psi maximum working pressure and suitable for temperatures from 0 degrees F to 150 degrees F, this connector suits refrigeration, pneumatic, and fluid-transfer lines common in HVAC and plumbing service work. Licensed technicians and journeyman plumbers are the typical installers for this type of fitting.
This connector is used in residential and light commercial applications where tubing must transition to a threaded pipe port. Common scenarios include connecting copper or compatible polymer tubing to valve bodies, manifolds, or equipment ports with NPT-threaded inlets. The compression end allows installation without open flame, making it appropriate for retrofits and service calls in occupied spaces where torch work is restricted or impractical. The brass construction resists corrosion in air, water, and many refrigerant-compatible fluid systems.
Designed as an OEM-style compression fitting for use with 5/16-inch outside diameter tubing and equipment or valve bodies with a 1/4-18 NPTF male NPT threaded port.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or HVAC technicians following applicable IPC or IFGC guidelines for the service fluid involved. Shut off and depressurize the line before disassembly or fitting installation. Hand-tighten the compression nut, then advance with a wrench only to the degree needed to seat the ferrule without over-compression, which can crack the ferrule or deform the tubing. Verify the connection is leak-free under system pressure before returning the system to service.
