Always depressurize and drain the line before disassembling or assembling compression fittings. The sleeve should be positioned squarely on the tube before hand-tightening the nut, then turned with a wrench per the fitting manufacturer's standard procedure — do not over-tighten, as over-compression can deform the sleeve and cause leaks.
