The PARKER 179PTCNS-8-4 is a push-to-connect rigid 45-degree male elbow tube fitting designed for compressed air and pneumatic fluid systems. It accepts 1/2-inch outside diameter tubing on the push-to-connect ends and connects to a 1/4-inch NPT male port, providing a 45-degree change of direction in the line. Constructed from brass with a nitrile O-ring seal, this fitting is rated to 250 psi maximum working pressure and is certified as a D.O.T. air brake fitting. Installation requires no tools on the tube side — tubing inserts and locks under compression. Licensed plumbing and pneumatic technicians and fleet maintenance professionals are the typical installers.
This fitting is built for D.O.T.-regulated air brake systems on commercial vehicles and meets FMVSS571.106, SAE J2494, SAE J2494-3, and SAE J844 standards. It is also suitable for general-purpose pneumatic plumbing where a push-to-connect 45-degree elbow with an NPT male transition is required. The wide operating temperature range of -40 degrees F to 200 degrees F makes it suitable for both cold-climate vehicle operation and underhood or engine-compartment routing where heat exposure is a concern.
Designed as an OEM-style D.O.T. air brake push-to-connect fitting compatible with 1/2-inch OD nylon or polyamide air brake tubing and 1/4-inch NPT male ports on valves, reservoirs, and related pneumatic components in commercial vehicle air brake systems.
Depressurize and drain the air brake system fully before removing or installing any fittings. Inspect tubing ends for squareness and clean cuts — damaged or out-of-round tubing will not seal correctly in push-to-connect fittings. Thread the 1/4-inch NPT male end into the mating port with appropriate thread sealant per the system manufacturer's guidance and applicable D.O.T. regulations. Verify all push-to-connect tube connections are fully seated before returning the system to service and leak-testing at operating pressure.
