The PARKER 172PTC-8-6 is a push-to-connect tube-to-male NPT tube fitting designed for use in pneumatic and air brake plumbing systems. Constructed from brass with a nitrile O-ring, it accepts 1/2-inch OD tubing on the tube ends and connects to a 3/8-inch male NPT port. The fitting is rated to 250 psi maximum working pressure and handles temperatures from -40 degrees F to 200 degrees F. Certified as a D.O.T. air brake fitting, it is suited for commercial vehicle air brake lines and similar regulated pneumatic applications. Installation requires no tools on the tube side — tubing inserts and locks with a single push.
This fitting is used in DOT-regulated air brake systems on commercial trucks, trailers, and buses, as well as in general industrial pneumatic plumbing where push-to-connect speed and NPT thread compatibility are required. It is typically installed by fleet maintenance technicians, diesel mechanics, and industrial plumbers working on compressed-air distribution lines. The dual tube-end, male-NPT-center configuration makes it well suited as a branch or union point between tubing runs and a threaded port on a valve or manifold.
Designed for use with 1/2-inch OD tubing and 3/8-inch NPT threaded ports in DOT air brake and general pneumatic systems.
Installation of DOT air brake fittings must comply with applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and any applicable state regulations. Depressurize and drain the air brake system completely before removing or installing any fitting. Ensure the NPT threads are wrapped with appropriate thread sealant tape compatible with air service before torquing the male end into the port. Verify tubing is cut square and deburred before insertion into the push-to-connect end to ensure a proper seal.
