The PARKER 15R20 is a string-wound cartridge filter designed for plumbing and water filtration applications. Constructed from cotton wound over a tinned steel core, it delivers mechanical filtration at a 20 micron rating, capturing sediment, rust, scale, and particulate from supply lines. The cartridge measures 2.5 inches in outside diameter and 20 inches in length, fitting standard industry housings used in residential and light commercial systems. Licensed plumbers and water treatment technicians install this type of filter as a pre-filter stage or point-of-entry sediment barrier. It is rated for service up to 250 degrees F, making it suitable for both cold and hot water lines within that threshold.
This cartridge is used in plumbing filtration systems where sediment reduction is the primary goal. Typical installations include whole-house pre-filtration, irrigation feed lines, boiler makeup water lines, and process water applications requiring particulate control. The 20 micron rating makes it appropriate for coarse sediment removal upstream of finer filtration stages or sensitive equipment such as softeners, RO membranes, or control valves.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement cartridge for standard 2.5 inch OD by 20 inch string-wound filter housings used in residential and commercial plumbing filtration systems.
Installation and replacement should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified water treatment technician following applicable IPC and local plumbing codes. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before opening the filter housing. Inspect the housing o-ring for wear or damage at each cartridge change and replace as needed. Do not exceed the cartridge temperature or pressure rating specified by the housing manufacturer.
