The PARAMOUNT PAR17518 is a long-arm ball-end hex key with a 5/8 inch hex size, designed for fastening and loosening hex socket fasteners in tight or off-angle access points. The ball end allows engagement at angles up to 30 degrees from the fastener axis, reducing the need to reposition in confined spaces. Built from Protanium High Torque Steel, the key is engineered to handle high-torque applications without deforming the tip or rounding fastener sockets. The gray handle and long-arm geometry provide additional leverage compared to standard-arm designs. At 9-51/64 inches overall length, it suits professional tradespeople who regularly work with larger hex fasteners.
This hex key is used across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general mechanical service work wherever 5/8 inch hex fasteners are present. Long-arm hex keys are common in equipment assembly, motor mounting, and access panel hardware on commercial and residential systems. The extended arm is particularly useful when reaching fasteners recessed in equipment cabinets or behind panels where a short-arm key cannot develop adequate torque or reach.
Designed for use with any 5/8 inch internal hex (Allen-type) fastener in inch-measurement applications across HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical trade service work.
No power source or lockout is required for hand tool use, but always de-energize and isolate equipment before accessing fasteners on electrical or mechanical systems. Use the long arm for initial loosening and final tightening torque; switch to the short arm (ball end) for rapid spinning in mid-range. Avoid using extension pipes or cheater bars on the key arm, as this can exceed the tool or fastener rating. Inspect the ball tip for wear before use on critical fasteners.
