It is designed for structured cabling installations in data centers, enterprise networks, and commercial buildings where high-density patch panel deployments demand a slimmer, more flexible cable. The 28 AWG construction reduces cable diameter compared to standard 23 AWG Cat 6A cables, making it easier to manage in tight cable trays and high-density racks. Network technicians and low-voltage cabling contractors are the primary installers of this type of patch cord.
This patch cord is suited for horizontal and equipment-bay patching in 10 Gigabit Ethernet environments operating at frequencies up to 500 MHz. The blue jacket color aids in visual circuit identification and color-coded patching schemes. Its flexible construction is particularly useful in server rooms and network closets where bend radius management and airflow clearance are ongoing concerns. It ships as a single unit and is ready to install out of the package with no field termination required.

Installation is performed by low-voltage cabling technicians or licensed network infrastructure contractors in accordance with ANSI/TIA-568 structured cabling standards. No field termination is needed; simply seat both RJ45 plugs fully into the port until the locking tab clicks. Avoid exceeding the minimum bend radius and do not bundle or over-cinch with cable ties, as excessive compression on 28 AWG cable can degrade signal performance. Power to connected active equipment does not need to be removed for patch cord replacement, but follow site safety protocols when working in live equipment racks.
