The PANDUIT UTP28X2.5MRD is a Cat 6A unshielded twisted pair (UTP) patch cord constructed with 28 AWG stranded conductors. It is designed to support high-speed data transmission in structured cabling systems, delivering the bandwidth and insertion-loss performance required by TIA-568-C.2 and ISO/IEC 11801 standards for 10-Gigabit Ethernet applications. The slim 28 AWG profile reduces cable bulk compared to standard 24 AWG patch cords, making it well suited for high-density patching environments. IT technicians, low-voltage cabling contractors, and data center installers are the primary trades that deploy this cord.
This patch cord is used in enterprise data centers, server rooms, telecommunications closets, and high-density patch panel installations where cable management and airflow are critical. The 2.5-meter length suits mid-range horizontal runs between patch panels and active equipment within a rack or between adjacent racks. It is appropriate for both new installations and retrofit projects where reducing cable congestion is a priority.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard patch cord for use with Cat 6A-rated patch panels, keystone jacks, and RJ45 ports in structured cabling systems meeting TIA-568-C.2 or ISO/IEC 11801 Cat 6A specifications.
Installation is performed by low-voltage cabling contractors or IT infrastructure technicians in accordance with ANSI/TIA-568 cabling standards. De-energize or place active equipment ports in a safe administrative state before disconnecting existing patch cords to avoid unintended network disruption. Avoid exceeding the minimum bend radius of the cable and do not over-bundle slim 28 AWG cords with hook-and-loop ties, as excessive compression can degrade signal performance. Verify that both terminating ports are rated Cat 6A to maintain end-to-end channel compliance.
