The PANDUIT P304B2 is a press-on nail plate designed to protect wiring and piping from fastener penetration in wood-framed construction. Nail plates are installed over bored or notched framing members where cables or pipes pass through, creating a hard barrier that prevents drywall screws and nails from making contact with the protected line beneath. This type of hardware accessory is a standard installation component used by electricians and plumbers during rough-in work on residential and light commercial projects.
The P304B2 is suited for wood-frame construction applications where code requires mechanical protection for cables or pipes routed through studs or joists. It is sold individually and is typically installed during the rough-in phase before wall finishes are applied. Inspectors commonly require nail plates wherever a bored hole or notch places a cable or pipe within 1.25 inches of the face of the framing member.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitment nail plate for use in wood-frame residential and light commercial construction applications.
Nail plates are installed by electricians and plumbers during rough-in framing stages before insulation or drywall is applied. De-energize all circuits in the work area before installing protective plates near existing wiring. NEC and IPC guidelines specify minimum protection requirements for cables and pipes near framing face edges. Ensure the plate fully covers the bored or notched area and seats flush against the framing member face.
