The PANDUIT FSTN972 is an OS2 single-mode fiber optic trunk cable configured with 72 fibers for outside plant (OSP) applications. Built around 9-micrometer single-mode fiber, this trunk cable is designed to support high-density, long-distance backbone runs in structured cabling infrastructure. Electrical and low-voltage contractors, as well as licensed data communications installers, deploy this type of assembly in campus, inter-building, and underground conduit environments where a pre-terminated, factory-tested trunk solution reduces field labor and ensures consistent optical performance.
The FSTN972 is suited for outside plant backbone installations connecting buildings, data centers, or telecom rooms across a campus or multi-site facility. Its 72-fiber count makes it appropriate for high-density distribution points where multiple parallel runs would otherwise be required. The OSP construction is intended for direct-buried, innerduct, or conduit-routed pathways exposed to environmental conditions not suitable for indoor-rated cable.
Designed as an OEM-style outside plant fiber trunk assembly for use with OS2 single-mode fiber distribution and connectivity systems in high-density structured cabling infrastructure.
Installation should be performed by a qualified low-voltage or fiber optic cabling technician in accordance with TIA-568 and applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out any adjacent active equipment before pulling cable through conduit or innerduct. Observe the manufacturer minimum bend radius at all times during pull and after final routing to avoid micro-bend loss or fiber damage. Connector end-faces should be inspected and cleaned per IEC 61300-3-35 before mating to patch panels or cassettes.
