The PACKARD 46001 is an ECM (electronically commutated motor) direct drive blower motor rated at 1 HP, designed as a versatile replacement for residential and light commercial HVAC air-moving applications. Operating on 115/230 volts AC, single-phase, 50/60 Hz, it draws 11 amps at 115V or 6.7 amps at 230V and turns at 1075 RPM. A key advantage of this motor is its rotation sensing technology, which automatically detects and selects the correct rotation direction on first start-up. Ball bearing construction and an open enclosure design are standard. The 46001 is intended for installation by licensed HVAC technicians in systems requiring an energy-efficient blower motor upgrade or direct replacement.
The PACKARD 46001 is suited for indoor installations including gas furnaces, air handlers, and heat pumps in residential and light commercial settings. Its belly band mounting configuration fits standard NEMA 48 frame housings. The motor is reversible and replaces either a PSC or X13 motor of equivalent horsepower, making it a broad-application replacement option. Efficiency is rated at 80 percent. This motor is appropriate for both new installations and retrofit scenarios where a drop-in ECM replacement is needed for an existing direct drive blower assembly.
Designed as a direct drive blower motor replacement for indoor furnaces, air handlers, and heat pumps. Replaces PSC or X13 motors of equivalent horsepower in NEMA 48 frame, belly band mount configurations. Consult the original equipment specifications to confirm voltage, RPM, and frame requirements before installation.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician. Disconnect and lock out all power to the air handling unit before removing the existing motor or making any wiring connections. Verify that supply voltage, amperage draw, and mounting configuration match the existing application before energizing. The rotation sensing feature eliminates the need to manually set rotation direction, but confirm proper airflow direction after first start-up before returning the system to service.
