The OSRAM MP250/BU-ONLY is a 250-watt pulse-start metal halide HID lamp designed for open-rated commercial fixtures. It features a BT28 envelope shape with a clear, lensed construction and an E39 mogul base. With an initial output of 23,000 lumens, a color temperature of 4000 K (cool white), and a color rendering index (CRI) of 65, this lamp delivers high-intensity white light suited to large-area illumination. Rated life is 10,000 hours. The operating position is base-up within plus or minus 15 degrees. Licensed electricians and lighting contractors typically handle installation in commercial lighting systems. The lamp is RoHS compliant.

This lamp is rated for both indoor and outdoor commercial applications. Its 360-degree beam distribution makes it well suited to high-bay warehouses, parking structures, sports facilities, and other large open spaces where broad, uniform illumination is required. The pulse-start design supports faster restrike and improved lumen maintenance compared to probe-start metal halide sources. Designed for use with ANSI M58/O ballasts in open-rated commercial fixtures accepting an E39 mogul base. Verify fixture and ballast ratings before installation. Operating position must be base-up within plus or minus 15 degrees.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. Disconnect and lock out power to the fixture before relamping. Allow the lamp to cool completely before handling, as HID lamps operate at high surface temperatures. Do not touch the outer envelope with bare hands; skin oils can cause hot spots and premature failure.
