The OSRAM LU70/ECO is a 70-watt high pressure sodium (HPS) HID lamp designed for commercial and industrial lighting applications. Built on an E39 mogul base with an E23.5 bulb shape, it delivers an initial output of 6300 lumens and a mean output of 5500 lumens across a rated life of 30,000 hours. Operating at 52 volts and compatible with S62/O ANSI-coded ballasts, this lamp is engineered as a lead-free direct replacement for standard HPS lamps that fail the federal TCLP (Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure) test, making it a compliant option where disposal cost reduction is a priority. Licensed electricians and lighting maintenance technicians are the primary installers.
This lamp is suited for a wide range of architectural and industrial settings. Rated for universal burn position, it fits cobra head roadway fixtures, wall mount housings, high bay and low bay industrial luminaires, canopy fixtures, and floodlight applications. The clear color finish and 1900 K color temperature are consistent with standard HPS output, making this a drop-in fit for existing HPS fixture inventories in warehouses, parking structures, roadway installations, and industrial facilities.
Designed as a direct OEM-style replacement for standard 70-watt high pressure sodium lamps operating on S62/O ANSI-coded ballasts. Also sold under the LUMALUX ECOLOGIC brand name with alternate catalog reference LU70ECO.
Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician. De-energize the fixture and allow the existing lamp to cool completely before handling, as HPS lamps operate at high internal pressure and surface temperature. This lamp has a hot restrike time of approximately 1 minute and a warm-up time of 3 to 4 minutes before reaching full output. Verify ballast ANSI code compatibility before installation and ensure the fixture is rated for the E39 mogul base.
