The OSG VGM7-0006 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance finishing operations in demanding machining environments. Built on OSG's VGM7 series platform, this single-end tool features a 1/4 inch mill diameter, 7-flute geometry, and a 0.02 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life on hard and abrasive workpiece materials. The EXO coating provides enhanced wear resistance and thermal protection. A variable index spacing between flutes reduces harmonic chatter during aggressive finishing passes, making this tool well suited for tight-tolerance work on difficult alloys.
The VGM7-0006 is engineered for finishing applications on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and other hard materials. The short flute geometry and close pitch make it especially effective in CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers where rigidity is a priority. A straight cylindrical shank accepts standard toolholders. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction follow conventional milling setups, and the medium helix supports chip evacuation without sacrificing surface finish quality.
Designed for use with standard straight-bore toolholders accepting a 1/4 inch straight cylindrical shank. Intended for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials in CNC milling applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the toolholder. Confirm shank runout is within acceptable tolerance using a dial indicator before commencing a cut, as runout errors are amplified by the 7-flute geometry. Follow the machine tool manufacturer's recommended clamping torque for the toolholder style in use.
