The OSG HP255-6890 is a jobber-length, solid carbide drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding production environments. It carries a 140-degree split point geometry with R-thinned web for reduced thrust and cleaner entry in hard or abrasive materials. The bit runs coolant-through, making it well suited for deep-hole work where chip evacuation and heat management are critical. At 0.6890 inches (17.50 mm) in diameter with an overall length of 143.00 mm and a flute length of 93.00 mm, it fits standard CNC machining centers and drill presses used in metalworking, aerospace, and precision fabrication shops.
This drill bit is built for professional machinists and toolroom technicians working in production or job-shop settings. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides the chip clearance needed for deeper passes in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The WD1 coating enhances wear resistance and tool life in abrasive or hardened workpieces. With an 18.00 mm shank diameter, it seats securely in collet chucks and drill chucks commonly found on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. It is sold individually and fits workflows where a single high-quality tool replaces multiple lower-grade bits.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct tooling selection for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills accepting an 18.00 mm shank diameter in the 0.6500 inch and larger drill size range.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists with the spindle fully stopped and the machine locked out per facility safety protocols. Confirm shank diameter compatibility with the chuck or collet before seating the bit. Coolant-through setups require verified coolant line connection and pressure before beginning the drilling cycle. Avoid running solid carbide tooling without adequate workholding, as carbide is brittle and will fracture under lateral load or vibration.
