The OSG HP255-4094 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. It carries a 140-degree point angle with an R-thinned web configuration that promotes self-centering entry and reduces thrust load. The WD1 coating improves wear resistance and heat dissipation during extended cutting cycles. At 118 mm overall length with a 71 mm flute length, this bit fits standard jobber-length toolholders and chucks. It is used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals who require consistent hole quality in ferrous materials at a 5xD depth-to-diameter ratio.
The HP255-4094 is suited for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and through holes in steel and cast iron workpieces. The straight-cylindrical shank at 12 mm diameter seats securely in standard drill chucks and collet holders. Coolant-through capability supports use in CNC machining centers and drill presses equipped with through-spindle coolant delivery, extending tool life in high-feed applications. The 2-flute spiral design with regular helix provides reliable chip evacuation in both interrupted and continuous cuts.
Designed for use in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces per primary workpiece material codes P and K. Compatible with standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 12 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for CNC machining centers and drill presses with or without through-spindle coolant.
Installation and use of this tool should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with carbide tooling handling procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before inserting or removing the bit from the toolholder. Carbide is brittle — avoid lateral loading, side pressure, or dropping the tool on hard surfaces. Verify runout at the shank before beginning a cut to protect both the tool and the workpiece.
