The OSG HP245-3386 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. It features a 140-degree point angle with R-thinned web geometry for self-centering entry and reduced thrust. The WD1 coating improves wear resistance and extends tool life in ferrous materials. At 8.60 mm in diameter with a 61.00 mm flute length and 103.00 mm overall length, this drill is suited for precision hole-making where dimensional accuracy matters. Two spiral flutes in a regular helix clear chips efficiently in both blind and cross-hole applications. Installed by machinists and tool room professionals on CNC machining centers and manual drill presses.
The HP245-3386 is designed for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and through holes in steel and cast iron workpieces. The R-thinned point and 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio make it effective for moderate-depth applications without the need for coolant-through capability. The straight-cylindrical shank at 10.00 mm diameter mounts directly into standard collet chucks, drill chucks, or hydraulic toolholders. This series is a practical choice for production environments requiring consistent hole quality and tight diameter tolerances in ferrous and hard cast materials.
Designed for use in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces. Primary workpiece material codes P and K. Suitable for blind hole, cross hole, and standard drilling operations on CNC and manual machine tools equipped with standard collet or drill chucks accepting a 10.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank.
Install and remove drill bits only with the machine fully powered down and spindle locked. Confirm the toolholder bore and runout are within acceptable limits before seating the shank to protect the carbide from premature chipping. Solid carbide tooling is brittle and should not be used in setups with excessive overhang or workpiece instability. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling supplier guidelines for appropriate feed and speed parameters when drilling ferrous materials.
