The OSG HP245-3228 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit in Letter P size (0.3230 inch / 8.20 mm diameter) designed for high-performance drilling in steel and cast iron. It features a 140-degree R-thinned point that promotes self-centering and reduces thrust on entry. The EgiAs multi-layer coating improves wear resistance and heat dissipation during aggressive material removal. With an overall length of 4.0551 inches (103.00 mm) and a 2.4016-inch (61.00 mm) flute length, this drill is suited for production environments where tool life and hole accuracy are critical. Installation is performed by machinists and CNC operators working in metalworking, fabrication, and maintenance repair applications.
The HP245-3228 is built for drilling blind holes, through holes, and cross holes in steel and cast iron workpieces. Its 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in moderate-depth holes. The straight cylindrical shank with a 10 mm shank diameter accommodates standard drill chucks and collet holders. Right-hand cutting direction and regular spiral flute geometry make this a direct fit for conventional CNC machining centers, drill presses, and handheld power tools used in metalworking trades.
Designed for drilling steel and cast iron workpieces (ISO material groups P and K). Fits standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 10 mm straight cylindrical shank. Appropriate for CNC machining centers and drill presses used in metalworking and fabrication environments.
This drill bit is installed and operated by machinists or CNC technicians following standard tooling procedures. Verify spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for solid carbide tooling in the target material before operation. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet to the recommended engagement depth and confirm runout before beginning a cut. Do not use this tool without appropriate machine guarding and eye protection in place.
