The OSG HP245-2795 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in ferrous materials. It features a 7.10 mm cutting diameter, a 140-degree point angle, and an R-thinned web that reduces thrust and promotes self-centering at entry. The WD1 coating provides wear resistance and extended tool life in demanding cutting conditions. With a regular spiral flute geometry and right-hand cutting direction, this drill is suited for production environments where tool life and hole quality are priorities. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary installers of this type of precision carbide tooling.
This drill is designed for use in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces. It handles blind hole and cross hole applications in addition to standard drilling operations. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides sufficient chip evacuation for moderate-depth holes without coolant-through capability. The straight-cylindrical shank with an 8.00 mm shank diameter is compatible with standard collet chucks, drill chucks, and hydraulic toolholders sized for that shank diameter. Typical applications include CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills in job shop and production floor settings.
Designed for drilling steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces. Compatible with toolholders accepting an 8.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Part of the OSG HP245 series covering the 7.00 mm to 8.00 mm diameter range.
Install in a properly sized collet or hydraulic chuck and confirm runout is within acceptable limits before starting the cut. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle before changing tooling. Carbide drills are brittle compared to high-speed steel and should not be used in applications with significant side load or interrupted cuts beyond the stated tool application. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and OSG series recommendations for feed rate and spindle speed when programming the cut.
